Keep Your Pet Calm
with Strangers and Other Dogs
Reactive Dog Help!
Do you have a dog that you would like to be able to walk in public but you do not because he or she jumps, barks, lunges, and/or snaps at strangers or other dogs?
Do you have a dog that gets overly excited at just the sight of another dog or a stranger approaching?
Do you have a dog that shuts down, tucks his or her tail, and/or pins his or her ears back at the sight of another dog or a stranger?
Would you like to take your dog to training classes but cannot because of his or her problem behavior?
Would you like to learn what to do from a professional animal behavior consultant?
If you answered yes to any of the above questions, this may be the class for you! Having a dog that is overly reactive towards strangers and/or other dogs can be a handful. This reactive behavior can be exhausting as you are constantly trying to avoid an outburst from your pet. It can be frustrating and embarrassing as it appears that everyone else owns a dog that doesn’t have these crazy outbursts. It can be heart breaking because you want to include your pet on your walks but decide to leave your pet at home instead to avoid any issues. It can also be dangerous and a liability for you should anyone get hurt.
With these materials, you will learn how to handle your dog confidently in public while using positive reinforcement training methods to modify behavior. For those that live near or can travel to Lincolnville, Maine, this is a small-group, highly structured environment using visual barriers as you and your dog learn dog-friendly techniques to help your dog learn to relax, focus on, and learn from you. For those not near Lincolnville, Maine, this can be done through the Weekly Behavior Assistant program regardless of your location. You too will learn to relax and enjoy time with your dog!
This class does not advance to dog interactions, meet-and-greets, or off-leash work. Students can repeat this class as often as desired based on availability to meet their goals.
